Antenna Projects

How It Works

DIXON Engineering Antenna Department designs, reviews, and inspects antenna installations to ensure the tank’s primary function is not impaired, that the tank is not compromised, and unsafe conditions are not created.

Master Design Plan

The quality control for our antenna services is handled with the same specific standards and procedures that have been established for the phases related to each respective service. Each service has its own unique requirements, and we ensure that our approach to quality control is consistent with those established criteria.

DIXON considers the following during design preparation and review: antenna mounting design, tank loading effects, cable routing design, cable penetration design, paint repair specifications, and overall tank appurtenance design. Each project is led by an experienced project manager who is committed to overseeing that the client’s needs are met and to ensure tank owner satisfaction by working in the best interest of the tank owner, not the cellular carriers.

Initial Site Inspection

Conducting a thorough inspection is paramount to starting any proposed engineering on a water storage tank. Tank conditions and loadings are continually changing. Having the latest equipment and conditions allow our design and engineering team to take these into account.

Review Construction Drawings and Structural Documents

The review of documents will commence after the initial site inspection is performed. DIXON will comment on any issues with available space on tank and safety (OSHA) and tank operation issues. It is important that the primary purpose of the water storage tank is not disrupted.

Structural Analysis

Engineering will produce a comprehensive structural analysis report to assess the impact of the antenna and equipment loading on your water storage tank. The report will show the structural components of your tank and determine the overall stresses on these components.

Mount Analysis

Engineering will create and produce a detailed mount analysis report. This report provides detailed information of stress point within the antenna mount members. This information can then be used to update the mount through reinforcement, if possible.

Installation Inspections

DIXON performs installation inspections to ensure that the requirements in the approved construction drawings are properly completed. Field Technicians confirm cable routing, equipment placements, and equipment height meets or exceeds the specified requirements.
