Lift Stations
Sewage lift stations are by definition installed in a difficult operating environment. The commonly used prefabricated steel "can" stations are constantly subjected to a corrosive environment on both the interior and exterior of the station. Because these structures are out of sight they often do not receive the type of care and maintenance needed to protect steel surfaces. In particular, external cathodic protection systems are often not maintained. This can lead to structural failure from either internal or external corrosion through the walls and floor.
Dixon provides a comprehensive range of services for the inspection, maintenance and rehabilitation of sewage lift stations. As with steel water storage tanks, Dixon initially performs a preliminary structural inspection to assess structural, safety, coating conditions. Ultrasonic testing is performed to assess wall thickness and possible steel loss from external corrosion. An inspection report with photographs is then provided with repair recommendations and associated budget estimates.
